Julia Pott

Ahhh this girls work is amazing. She has a very lose style of illustration and she matches them against collage background, similar to my work. I like her choices of colour combinations as well, nice and bright!

Hawkins showed me this website and she said it reminded her of both of our illustration styles put together. Pott has franchised out into merchandise which has become extremely popular, producing cards, cushions and other upholstery. Maybe this is something me and Hawkins could do as a on the side collaborating in the new year.

Cd interatcive packaging

Some quick research into ideas for my CD packaging for strangeways - different ways of folding and how i could combine a poster inside.

1960's Seaside poster

John encouraged me to look at old 1950-70's seaside posters advertising holiday to look at the slogans and cheesy tag lines used. AS these were terribly British i could then maybe interpretwithin my Ted Baker to convey the patriarchy.

What i found particularly eyeacthing about the poster below was juts how simple they were but still very bold and eye catching. using block colours and large type to fill the space. Very clean yet exciting designs using white as a background.
one and use it

tally Ho

Old posters advertising seaside resorts looking at the Bristih slogans. After my last crit I was set on using Tally Ho for my slogan in the Ted baker brief - however John told me that Tally Ho is mainly used in horse racing so it would not send out the right message to my audience if i used it in that context. a change of slogan was needed.

Perfume - Story of a Murderer

Selection of the 2006 remake of the novel film posters. Each poster creates a dark, sinister element whilst still using the female form as the main focus.

PENGUIN

For my next brief, i have chosen o do the re design of the penguin book, Perfume. Here are some of the past cover designs which have been used to illustrate what the novel is about, with out giving too much or the twist of the plot away.

Each cover focuses on the fact that the story re voles around females, beauty and desire for them. This is represented by the youth and curves of the females bodies.

Martin Haake

I adore Haake quick cut and stick style of illustration. His pieces look rushed with elements within the piece being roughly positioned and cut out, leaving some white space around them allowing them to stand out against there background. His drawing style is similar to mine also, as i am not the most realistic or confident drawer.

Example of his collage work and screenpritned pieces, all smashing!

The glue society

Large sculpture by "The Glue Society" and displayed on Tamarama Beach as part of the "Bondi Sculpture by the Sea" 2006 exhibition in Sydney, Australia.

Very humorous and obviously eye catching. Playing on the theme that the weather is so hot even the the ice cream van itself is melting - not juts the ice cream.
